The Electoral Commission pays heartfelt tribute to Miss Edith Duberry, a distinguished public servant whose life and work were deeply intertwined with the democratic process of Montserrat.

Miss Duberry’s association with elections spanned over 40 years, during which she brought extensive expertise, dedication, and integrity to every role she undertook. In 1991, she served as Returning Officer, and in October 2024, she once again carried out that responsibility with distinction. Over the decades, she also served as an enumerator, leader of an enumeration team, presiding officer, and poll clerk—each role performed with diligence and fairness, strengthening the credibility of our electoral system.
Her steady leadership and meticulous oversight ensured that elections were conducted transparently and in accordance with the highest standards of accountability. More than her technical skill, Miss Duberry embodied the values of impartiality, respect for democratic traditions, and unwavering commitment to the people of Montserrat.
Her passing leaves a profound void, but her legacy endures in the integrity of the electoral process she helped safeguard and in the example she set for future generations of election officials.
The Electoral Commission extends its deepest condolences to her family, friends, and all who were touched by her life of service. We honor her memory with gratitude and respect, acknowledging her vital role in preserving the integrity of Montserrat’s democracy.
