The UK Branch of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA UK) has been invited by the Legislative Assembly of Montserrat to conduct a Post-Election Seminar for parliamentarians, from Tuesday 18 to Thursday 20 February.
This three-day seminar will provide a bespoke opportunity for participants to engage in discussions to exchange best practices, enhance their skills and understanding of the roles and responsibilities of members and parliamentary officials, and build on their knowledge of parliamentary procedures and practices.
The sessions are designed to cover a range of topics including separation of powers, the role of select committees, effective questioning techniques and participants will also engage in a practical mock committee exercise. Members and parliamentary officials from Montserrat will hear about the parliamentary experiences of representatives from the Jersey Parliament, the Parliament of the Turks and Caicos Islands, the Anguilla House of Assembly, The States of Guernsey, and the UK Parliament.
